Privacy Policy — Progression

Last updated: 2026-08-26
Applies to: the Progression mobile app for iOS and Android (the “App”).

In short

Your training log stays on your phone.

Progression does not ask you to create an account, and it does not send your workouts anywhere. Everything you log — workouts, sets, weights, notes, templates — is stored in a database file on your own device. We never receive it, so there is nothing we could lose, sell, or share.

There are no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind. The App requests no device permissions.

The one way your training data can leave your phone without you exporting it yourself is your own device backup: if you use iCloud backup (iOS) or Google's device backup (Android), the App's data is included, under your Apple or Google account, like the rest of your phone. That is between you and your platform — we are not part of it and cannot see it.

1. Who is responsible (controller)

Email: [email protected]

Because the App sends us no personal data, in day-to-day use we do not process your personal data at all within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”). We publish this policy so you can verify that, and because the app stores require one. If you contact us by email, we process what you send us to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b)/(f) GDPR) and keep the thread no longer than needed.

2. What the App stores — on your device only

WhatWhere it lives
Your training data — workouts, exercises, sets, weights, repetitions, units, dates, free-text notes, templates A database file (progression.db) in the App's private storage on your device
Your settings and any in-progress workout draft The App's private preferences storage on your device

None of this is transmitted to us or to anyone else by the App. The App makes no network connections in normal use.

We do not collect: your name, email address, date of birth, gender, body weight, location, contacts, photos, health records from Apple Health or Google Health Connect, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, or crash reports. The App requests no device permissions — no camera, microphone, location, contacts, or photo library access.

3. Third parties

No third party receives your data through the App. There are no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or attribution services in it.

Transparency note: the App's binary includes Google Firebase libraries that exist for a planned optional paid feature (see section 7). In this version they are never initialised and are not configured to connect to anything; no Firebase service is contacted.

4. Device backups, restores, and exports

5. How long we keep your data

We do not have your data, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Your training log persists on your device until you delete workouts in the App, clear the App's storage, or uninstall it.

6. Your rights

The GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability against a controller processing your personal data. For your training log, the App is built so you don't need us to exercise any of them: you can read everything in the App, correct or delete any entry, export a machine-readable copy via Export to CSV, and erase everything by deleting the data or the App.

If you believe we do hold personal data about you (for example from email correspondence), contact [email protected] and we will answer within one month, free of charge.

You can also complain to a supervisory authority. In Belgium:

Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données

7. Accounts and paid cloud sync

A paid cloud-sync subscription is planned but not available in this version. When it launches, subscribers will be able to create an optional account and store a synced copy of their training log on servers (Google Firebase, EU region), with subscription payments handled by Apple or Google. Account creation, cloud storage, and in-app account deletion will only apply to users who choose that feature.

This policy will be updated, and the change announced in the App, before any of that ships. Nothing in this section describes processing that happens today. The free tier described in this policy remains account-free and on-device.

8. Children

The App stores its data only on the device and collects nothing from anyone, adult or child. It is not directed at children.

9. Security

Your training log is protected by your device's own storage isolation and whatever device protections you use (passcode, encryption, biometrics). Since the data never reaches us, the main things protecting it are the ones already protecting your phone.

10. Changes to this policy

If how the App handles data ever changes — above all when the paid cloud-sync tier launches — we will update this policy, change the “Last updated” date, and announce material changes in the App before they take effect.
